We design the green. We think about the life within it.

Selvara is a landscape studio concept: a meeting point for botanical understanding, architecture and the quiet rituals of everyday life.

Our approach to landscape

Between home and landscape, there is a place to imagine.

Selvara Studio began as a concept around a simple question: what makes a garden feel truly connected to a home? The answer goes beyond a selection of plants. It lies in the distance between the kitchen and the outdoor table, the shade reaching a favourite seat and the way a path invites you to slow down. Small relationships can make a substantial difference to the experience of a place.

Our language takes shape where order meets growth. Design provides a readable structure; plants move through it, soften it and transform it throughout the year. We are interested in spaces that offer more than a single carefully composed view. They invite discovery through walking, pausing and returning to look at them in a different light or season.

Tuscany is the imagined setting for this identity, with a proposed base in Lucca [DA VERIFICARE]. Stone, pale plaster, trees with character and natural light form our visual vocabulary. They are starting points for a conversation, rather than a formula to repeat. Every site should be able to lead that conversation in its own direction.

The vision

Shaping a balance with room to grow.

We want outdoor spaces to feel understandable, welcoming and connected to the people who use them. Design brings visual pleasure together with practical needs: moving through a garden, finding shelter from the sun, sharing a meal or tending plants. A thoughtful composition allows these activities to happen without the space feeling overly prescribed.

We see a garden as a work that remains open to time. That means considering the mature size of planting, the way materials will change and the care that will be required. The first image is one moment in a longer process. A design should offer a structure that can support what follows, with enough clarity to guide growth and enough flexibility to welcome it.

The ideas behind the design.

Listening

People’s routines and the character of the site come before the proposal. Listening means asking useful questions while making room for wishes that have not yet found their shape.

Restraint

We look for proportion and purposeful choices. A well-laid material or a tree in the right position can bring more character than a collection of unrelated features.

Continuity

House and garden belong to the same daily experience. Colour, thresholds and routes help connect their spaces while keeping the transition between architecture and nature meaningful.

Time

Plant growth and the changing seasons are design tools. We think about what will change, the care it will ask for and the qualities that should remain present as the garden matures.

Complementary expertise

Different disciplines, a shared perspective.

The design brings three areas of expertise into conversation. These roles describe the proposed organisation of Selvara. Actual people, qualifications and collaborations are [DA VERIFICARE].

Landscape design

Connects an understanding of the setting with the arrangement of space. Proportion, routes, materials and architectural relationships are developed into a composition that gives the initial brief a clear and recognisable form.

Planting design

Explores the contribution of plants: their shapes, habits, colours and seasonal changes. Selections are considered in relation to the conditions of the site and the level of ongoing care expected.

Project coordination

Organises the conversation between disciplines and keeps decisions understandable. Drawings, samples and observations are brought together to maintain continuity between the initial intentions and the detail that follows.

The atelier

An atelier for materials and landscape.

We imagine the studio as a place for looking and touching. Drawings share the table with stone samples, timber, photographs and pieces of foliage. Bringing these things together helps reveal subtleties that a screen cannot always communicate: the roughness of a surface, a shade of green or the way light moves across a particular material. These observations can make a discussion of atmosphere much more concrete.

Lucca is the proposed base for the concept [DA VERIFICARE]. The address, available spaces and arrangements for meetings will be established using the real details of the business. The generated atelier images illustrate an atmosphere of work; they do not document an existing studio or premises.

The process

A design grows through decisions people can understand.

The first meeting gathers information rather than fixing an image immediately. We ask how the space is used, which parts of the day matter most and what is currently difficult. Photographs, plans and personal references help make this conversation specific, even when your thoughts are still open. Understanding these priorities gives the design something more useful to work with than a style label alone.

Reading the setting leads to a concept: a structure of routes, planted volumes and open areas, supported by an initial palette of materials and vegetation. Discussing this stage helps establish priorities before moving into details. The proposal can develop and change while keeping its starting principle visible, so individual decisions continue to belong to a larger whole. The next stages explore planting, surfaces, furniture and the connections between them. Required technical expertise and coordination with contractors are defined within the agreed appointment. Care guidance completes the process, helping the garden’s composition remain understandable and supported once the physical work is finished. The intention is to give the space a thoughtful beginning and a clear direction for the seasons that follow.

An idea worth growing

Every landscape begins with a conversation.

Tell us what you see from your window and what you would like to find when you step outside. That first observation can become the starting point for your outdoor space.
